Pokhara/Pokhara
Trip Overview
Pokhara Shanti Stupa also known as Pokhara World Peace Pagoda is located on top of the Ananda hill at the height of 1100 meters. Shanti Stupa in Pokhara is the first World Peace Pagoda in Nepal and seventy-first pagoda built by Nipponzan-Myohoji in the world. Out of 80 world peace pagodas in the world, two of them are in Nepal, one being the World Peace Stupa in Pokhara. This huge stupa, symbol of peace has been installed by Japan. From here one can enjoy the breathtaking views of Himalayan Ranges, Lakes and the city.
Starting up with short walk through touristic down town (Lakeside) from the hotel to Fewa lake, then we have short boat trip across the Fewa lake before starting our journey to Peace Pagoda. Once you reach the opposite bank, get down next and start hiking. The path goes through a thick forest filled with wildflowers and pine trees called Raniban (Queen’s forest). Uphill stairs, chippering of birds, jumping of squirrels, colorful butterflies, springs, etc. are the interesting things we can see on the forest up way to the peace pagoda. It may take an hour or two (depending on your pace) to reach the top. Once you reach the top, enjoy a bird’s-eye view of the entire valley. We will spend few hours on peace pagoda, so if the weather is clear, you can capture stunning views of Annapurna Massif, Hiunchuli, Machhapuchhre, Dhaulagiri, Pokhara valley and Fewa lake in your camera. After that, we will start walking down to the downtown city called Chhorepatan through a small village, descending down stairs for another 30-40 minute. After reaching down to the city, our private vehicle will drive us back to your hotel.
